Qualifications
Alan Mehlenbacher has a PhD in Economics from the University of Victoria and an MBA from Simon Fraser University. He has also earned an MSc from the University of British Columbia,
a BS from the University of Michigan, a Certificate in Strategic Management from the American Management Association, and a CMC designation and
Certificate in ISO 9000 Implementation from the Institute of Certified Management Consultants.
His areas of expertise include competition economics, environmental economics, computational models, applied econometrics, auctions, business strategic planning, and information technology management.
He has experience as a manager or consultant in a wide variety of industries, including information technology, telecommunications, geomatics, engineering, distribution, transportation,
construction, real estate, tourism, forestry, agriculture, health, and pharmaceuticals.
Alan is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the University of Victoria's Economics Department where he
teaches courses in competition economics, competition policy,
environmental economics, computational economics, applied econometrics, and macroeconomics.
He has also taught courses in agent systems and network-centric computing in the Computer Science Department.
Alan was previously a partner in Stellar Systems Group Inc., President of Stellar Financial Management Group Ltd.,
and an IT Director with the BC Systems Corporation and the BC Ferry Corporation.

Alan has provided economics and management consulting services to private and public sector clients in British Columbia, Alberta, and Alaska,
and has been an associate consultant with Vancouver management consulting firms SRI Strategic Resources Inc. and The Signal Group.
Alan's current consulting practice includes economic analyses, business valuations, cost-benefit analyses, and econometric analyses.
Previous deliverables have included computational simulations, price-fixing analyses, strategic plans, cost-benefit analyses, company valuations, capital project valuations,
business plans, performance measurements, information technology plans, major project plans, project turnaround strategies, and advice and counsel on strategic and competitive issues.
He has also supported executives by designing and developing client-specific executive information systems for performance measurement, budget forecasting,
financial administration, and project tracking.
